Can bottled water from say crystal springs or gulligan be used for water changes. I have well water and a high phospate count I think, it smells like sulphur. I live on the coast of SC. I cann't afford a ro di unit here at christmas, hence the idea of bottled water.

Some bottled water can be used. Make sure it is unflavored, preferably processed by RO or distilled. You should note, however, that using bottled water will quickly cost more then a home RO unit in under a year.

If you are close to Charleston or Mt. Pleasant you can get R/O water from Mt. Pleasant water works. There are 4 stations spread throughout Mt. P and it's free. If you have a boat you can get ocean water a mile or so out.

you should probably test your water to be sure so you know what you're up against. an R/O system is a great idea though...

I get mine from wal-mart, though I know I keep posting it. Any grocery store should have it. its expensive over here like .60 a gallon. but its worth it. Just make sure it says filtered by reverse osmosis and deionization.

I get my RO water from Walmart like T there. Make sure you read on the bottled water first before putting it in.. a lot of companies add minerals for taste. On top of that it will get really expensive. I pay 25cents / gallon at a walmart fill station.

I used to use Alhambra water once in a while on my old FOWLR tank with no problems.
