In order to help we need to know the specs on your system, any abnormalities in fish behavior the days leading up to the deaths, anyone cleaninging in the house/apartment, arisols, fish hanging near the surface, heavy breathing, etc.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Was anything malfunctioning that morning (loss of circulation, etc.)? Which fish did you lose?

Sorry, to hear about your loss.

I was almost in a similar situation last night when the glass heater in my sump broke open, sparked twice and cut the circuit breaker out. I was lucky though. Maybe the same happened to you - check your electrical.

Do you have an inverts in the tank, like a sea apple or a cucumber?

In any case, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss!

I'm truly sorry for your loss. I'm clinging to the hope that "Gus" my Coral Beauty - and my first saltwater fish - outlives me.

For the rest: I know we all only skim-read posts, but I try to read all the words. (most of the time). Anyway here's the short version, written by someone clearly in the midst of grief and lose, and unless particularly gifted, doesn't think as clearly in those conditions as normal.

The grounding problem was probably it my friend. What did they look like when they died? It takes a major thing to kick a whole tank of fish in one night I doubt the ich meds did anything. But then on the other hand, if it was electrical, I figure everything would have died. Its also suspicious that your hardy animals lived. The hawk and the eel. This leads me to believe it was water. Did the power go out when you were sleeping and not know it?
