The set up I bought this summer came with everything under the sun, and then more.

I saw an expiration date on all the medicines but not on the supplements.

I may have a fish wih goiter (at least that's the only diagnosis I can make after all day and all night of reading 20 different books, a search on millions of forums and sites, and a visit to my LFS).
I didn't know if I should buy a new bottle of "Kent Marine Iodine", or use the the "Kent Marine Tech 1" that I already have. I don't know when the previous owners bought it. I currently have very little "reef" stuff in my tank (other than the cool hitchikers) so I'm not dosing or supplementing with anything at the moment.

(I'm currently working on a post with pictures of my yellow tail damsel and his tumor for advice or info).

i wouldn't dose the iodine at all if you are changing some water regularly.
i never use the stuff myself and have been successful at this hobby for well over 5 yrs.
as for your fish, if you fear he is not getting the iodine he needs i think you are likely mistaken.
if oyu feed it something of a meaty nature, it is very likely sufficient in iodine.

Yeah, I actually agree with you.
It was the only description after reading for two days straight that described what my fish has.

It is also best case senerio because it seems that all other tumors (that are not genetic deformities) are fatal and there is nothing I can do but wait for him to die.

So me and my denial mode is going to dose with iodine just in case for some mysterious reason my level of it was low enough to give him a tumor. (I mentioned in the other post that the nearest test kits are 75 miles away and the national weather service has advised to stay off the roads because of the CA storms).

I really, really appreciate the replies. I could use all the advice I can get right now.

one more word of precaution...

iodine is some scary stuff to be dosing into a tank full of microbic life.
from what i understand, most test kits sold to the public aren't real accurate, so know what you are dealing with.
personally, i would just stop using it.
