Hey,

I need to pull out a few LR's and try to scrub them down with an aquarium brush to remove some hair algae.... Is there a problem with just using fresh water to rinse them as I scrub the things? Not soak them mind you.. just a quick rinse off a few times.

B.

I tried to do that once, with a single piece of LR and it didn't work for me. I couldn't get the algae off- Let me know if it does for you, or what else you get to work cause I'd like to try it.

Hey Snow, why not do a water change and use the old tank water to scrub the rock in a bucket. Not much of a shock to any good h/h, bacteria, or coraline. Andy

Placing a rock in fresh water for a few seconds usually isnt enough to kill the coraline, but I agree with andy. Do it with a water change and rinse with the saltwater you take out. Dipping live rock in a fesh bath is a good way to get crabs to hop out of hole tho...
