Does anyone know about metal halide light restrike? I recently made my own light hood and aluminum reflectors. I patterned the reflector from ones I have seen in catalogs. I have read a bit that light restrike can cause heat problems and to paint the reflector white to prevent this problem. I have seen a reflector in a catalog that said it was computer designed and bent at precise angle to prevent light restrike. Is this truely necessary? Any knowledge or experiences would be greatly helpful.
Thanks

Actually, you can prevent restrike by painting the reflector black.... :D

Restrike is not a big issue, but it cut down the useable amount of light that you can get out of the bulb. If you can redirect the light to the tank, why not do that?
