i want to put a 150 gallon 4ft wide tank on a full stand (not metal 4 prong) on the 2nd floor of my house. It will be built into a double door closet that i am going to convert. I plan to put a 3/4 inch wood board on the floor under the tank for proper disbursement. do you think it will be a problem>? It would seem that the weight per square inch should be that bad. my bed sits on 4 prongs and holds a heavy mattress and boxspring along with 325lbs of people on it nightly. WOuld seem that is more of a weight problem cuz it only touches in 4 places? Please advise...

A 150 gallon tank with sand and rocks could weigh upwards of 1500 lbs(that's not including a sump and the weight of the stand).

325lbs of people on it nightly

150 gal tank + stand is more like 1500lbs of constant pressure.

Depends on the age of the house, the direction of the floor joist, how far the joist are sread and their thickness. Mine held the tank fine for about 1 year also a 150. I went down the basement one day and noticed one of the joist was cracked and bent a small bit. I now have the floor re-enforced from the basement.

Plus you have to make sure it's sitting across the joists...if not you're looking at trouble in the long run.
