least aggressive tang?

anyone have a tang that is peaceful? my purple is a mean bully that even attacks angels. is this normal for a purple tang or is mine just a bastard?

I know my yellow tank was a real piece of work. His ass got hauled back to the pet store after he kept eating the antennas off my cleaner shrimp.

I would say the bristletooth tangs, like the Kole or Chevron. They're still aggressive, but are least likely to become bullies.

What reefnutz said. In addition, Naso lituratus is fairly peaceful but gets pretty big.

I've had a couple of mimic tangs and never had either bother anyone. Never had them at large sizes though.

I had a kole with a yellow and sailfin. The kole was the best behaved of the 3 and also stayed a good bit smaller.

Sailfin is a pretty mellow fish. Gets along great with my yellow. Never bothers anything else ever.

i third that.. ive also had very mello mimic tangs as well.

Unless you have another algae eater in your tank like an algae blenny. The bristle tooth relentlessly chased him around the tank until he jumped...

Oh yeah, most tang's that I have encountered are bastard's except for my buddy's Naso.

Of the two tang that I have, the Nasso is more peaceful than the yellow.

Purple tangs have a rep for being pretty mean, but I do think it depends on the individual fish. My purple tang is an absolute wimp. When I first got him, he was beaten up by all of his tankmates. I had to get him his own seperate tank.

Humm...maybe that was his plan all along.

I added a gold stripe maroon to his world and the two got along well from the first minute.

My brothers Maroon kept beating the crap out of his Regal Tang. Ended up trading the Maroon in.

I'll definately have to put my two cents for the sailfin tang...Least aggressive and outright wonderful of all my fish by far.

My clown tang was really nice as well but still small.
