I'm having a zoo problem that I just can't figure out. I have a 210 reef that has been set up since june. before the 210 I had a 30 reef and a 120 fish only. The 30 was stocked with zoos, mushrooms, tourch, and a few other low light stoney corals. I had 2 65watt 50/50 for lighting. The tank did great never had a problem only growth. when I set up the 210 I add the 30 and the 120 so I would have a nice piece of the ocean. there is about 250# of Lrock with 3-250mh and 2-96watt actinics that are on and 10 hour cycle(2-6-2).

just recently my zoos have started to die off (except the green star polyps), and I'm not sure what the problem may be. All the levels in the tank are good and the SPS's are doing fantastic.

I have lost about 80% of the zoos. I have even added two colonies of ORA zoos that died off (Boy that sucked lost 90 buck there). I supplement the tank with Calcium, phyto and zooplex, strontium, morybidum,Iodide, and Reef plus.

I'm at a loss, if any could offer some advice that would be great. Could the lighting be too much? I'm not sure but it is very discouraging.

You're obviously an experienced reefer so I assume all the usual suspects are normal (ca, alk, ph etc) and that you doing water changes, skimming etc.

I'm looking suspiciously in the direction of your additives. Are you testing the Iodine level? How are you dosing strontium & morybidum.

Are they just disintegrating or is it possible they're being munched by something?

All the levels in the tank are fine (ph Alk Ca and temp). I have a turbo floter that skims a half a cup every week. Water changes are done monthly with RO water about 20%. I test the ca level every once in a while, about once a month(being lazy). I do dose Ca about once every 7-10 days, and then dose strontium & morybidum the next day. As far as the Iodine goes, I do not test, but add lugles Iodine about once a week. The zoos do seem to be deterioreting. I have looked for the snails that eat zoos that might have hitchhiked in, but I don't see any, and as far as fish go they are all reef safe.
thanks for the response, more feedback is welcome
