Sand from my old tank

I now have the new 110g up and running. Live rock transferred from the old to seed the base rock. New southdown for shallow bed in display and about 3 inches in fuge area of sump (72g bf). I was planning on adding the sand from the old tank to the fuge, but man it looks crappy and full of ditrius. Should I pitch it??
