Nice pics Matt and Oceans! Not that I have the room, but are they readily available?

Not especially, I think it would be easier to get the wide-Band though because more people are interested in it. I did searches on both and only came up with one site where the wide-band could be bought.

It’s not recommended by aquariumpros.com as a fish to keep in captivity, citing its skitterish nature. I’m not too sure about that. My b & w saddleback clowns are nervous like this. All it takes is an environment with lots of hiding places, no aggressive tank mates, and no sudden actions (i.e. turning lights on at night, approaching tank too quick) and they do fine.

Clownfish, Damsels, Chromis, Pseudochromis
Common Name Scientific Name Reason Class
Red Saddle Clownfish Amphiprion ephippium Aggressive F
Latezonatus Clownfish Amphiprion latezonatus Stress C
White Cap Clownfish Amphiprion leucokranos Stress C
Maroon Clownfish Premnas biaculeatus Aggressive* F
The Maroon clownfish is only listed here because they will usually kill any other clownfish in an aquarium. This does not always occur, but the problem is common enough to provide a caution. Ephippium clownfish can be nasty!

i haven't voted because this is just too difficult to decide upon.

i initially thought 'maroon' for they are a thugly bunch, well known for some serious territorial issues... but then inside the thread i read "best" and thought of the more gentle nature of Ocellaris and Percula.
for years i had a brute if a Clarkii that could actually draw blood.
one day he dissappeared never to be found again... i admit that i was kind of relieved as i could enter the tank again without playing victim.

now only months later i have bought two Black Sebae clowns which are very reminescent of my Clarkii.
the larger has been aquiring a taste for me and i am soon i will be in the same situation again if i add an anemone.

all this rambling said and done, i must proclaim my love for a nice looking Black Ocellaris. probably my favorite currently, and i would really like to have a good looking specimen but they aren't real common around here.
when they do arrive they usually look pretty rough.
i bought a pair once and they didn't survive the night. the LFS lost the whole lot too and blamed the breeder.
i am sure they will be more readily available as tank raised in the future and will wait until someone can manage that for me.

so i guess i should vote Ocellaris.

It's hard to beat Ocellaris. They have such endearing personalities :D I'd love to sel back my b & w saddlebacks but my husband has gotten attached to them :? They're going in his tank, for a while so I can add my surely Tomatos to my 65 :D We'll see if they're a match for me. If not, then when I move in 2006 I'll sell them back and go for some b & w percullas.

My expreiance with the clarkii has been very different. He's the one who runs when I go in the tank and the b/w ocellaris is the one who attacks me.

Just so you know pod, Inland Aquatics has a beautiful bunch of b/w ocellaris in right now. TR by our own Dizzy's wonderful spouse. Her ocellaris are mean little buggers, and will vicously protect their domain.

I'm not voting just can't decide. I do however like the looks of those blue stripes.

I used to have a clarkii, great fish when it was little, but it started beating the crap out of me every time I stuck my hand in the tank to do maintenence as it got larger.

maroone are the baddest, i have one that killed two formosan wrasse and one red coris wrasse. i had to take her out of the 150 and put her in a 55. i nicked named her tank. she is huge about eight inches long and about three inches wide. i was real lucky and paired her up with a male. i tried several LTA, but my clown would put them where she wanted them, and they had a chance to attach themselves to anything after a while they died. i finially bought a rose anemone that is two feet across, it takes half of my 55 when opened all the way. a pair of maroone golds kick but :!: :D

cinnamon clowns reside in the tomato complex category. :D Same as red saddlebacks and red/black clowns. Sorry, I know I split up Percula and Occelaris (sorry spelled wrong) but they are in more demand then Tomato complex varieties.
