Or is it toast already?

Some details: I have a AquaC Remora with the Mag-3 pump upgrade, and the internal overflow box. Recently, this serpent star decided to climb into the overflow box. It then decided to stick its arms (and apparently, part of its body) into the Mag-3 pump

After hearing some weird sounds from the pump, I looked, and found the serpent star in the overflow. I've retrieved it.

The other serpent stars in the aquarium don't seem to be going for it at the moment, so it can't quite be dead yet (it's not quite dead yet :) )

Do I just keep an eagle eye on it? Do I toss it into the HOB refugium (aquafuge) to see if it heals?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hy

I've seen worse. As long as most of the central body is intact it has a chance.
Try to keep it by itself, where other critters can't pick at it. I wouldn't bother trying to feed it yet, let it try to recover somewhat and after a week or so see if it will take some small scraps of meaty foods.

It continually amazes me the trauma that healthy reef critters can overcome.

I agree that if you can get him somewhere where nobody can pick on him that would do him good.
