Yes, it sounds like it is an improved version of mine (black) but I can't think of what there might have been to improve.

The nice thing about this is that it is incredibly simple to use. Just calibrate it with deionized or distilled water (for zero) and then wipe the water off and put on a few drops of your aquarium water. As long as you clean it after every use and don't drop it, it will probably outlive you.

It's the same one I have I love it. The only thing to remember is to wait the 30 seconds or so to let it compensate for temperature...it DOES make a difference in the reading!

I want to see how far off the swing arm (seatest) is to the refractometer...
from my understanding it can be by quite a bit...

Just be sure you calibrate it correctly CTX, and use R/O D/I water for purity reasons...

I've had mine for over a year and love it. Easy to calibrate, easy to read and much, much more accurate than the hydrometers. I had two hydrometers giving me two different readings, so I bought that refracto and both hydrometers were way off.

I also have the same one and love it. Makes reading SG a snap, no more trying to make sure there are no bubbles on the swing arm.

how do you know if your refractometer is accurate? Did anyone of you ever had 2 or 3 refractometer either of the same brand or different and see if they measure the SG exactly the same thing??

I'm just wondering..
