Hey all,

I am looking to move my 10gallon to a nice 20gallon but not sure the best way to go about it. Should I fill the 20gallon halfway and heat that water then just move everything at once? Pretend it was a large water change?

Any experiences or help is appreciated.

Yes. Move as much as you can from the 10 to the 20. I would just fill up two 5 gallon buckets with aged heated SW. Add 5 gallons a day over two days. Just make sure you match the temp. and salinity as closely as possible.

FWIW I just did this on a tank with 65 g of volume, moving from a smaller 30 g system. No problems. Coralline algae was growing on the tank walls within a week.

i like your plan to fill half and add half from your 10 gallon. but remember you wont be able to move all 10 gallons over so i would fill the new tank to about 15 gallons just in case.

If you can put all the contents of the 10 gal in the 20 gal (while the 20 gal is empty). Then slowly (1-2 days) fill it up. Then re-arrange stuff.
