i recently purchased some new live rock and have what seems to be a black crab with black and a darker yellow stripes on the legs. i know i'm making it ten times harder than it needs to be, but i recently saw a post that showed a picture of a crab and whether or not it was good. i know this crab is on that post, i just can't remember what they said about it. thanks.

Is there anyway to get a pic of it? I would try to keep the crab separated pending an ID, because odds are it is not something you want in the tank. Do you know what region your live rock is from? That may help narrow it down some.

Are you sure it's not a sally lightfoot crab? They are dark with yellow stripes and somewhat reefsafe IMO.

If you could take a pic it would be helpfull... but I agree that it sounds like a sally lightfoot crab. Does it look somewhat spider-ish?

it does have spider like qualities when running. if this were a sally light foot, what kind of issues would i have to worry about?

Sounds like a sally LF to me..without a picture a clear ID is almost impossible..I take it is flat and greenish black?
