Spider web looking thing in my green leather

This is very odd...I have a spider web looking thing in the branches of my green leather. My leather looked not-so-hot yesterday, and now there's a tightly woven white thingy wrapped tightly around some branches. It reminds me a lot of caterpillar webs in trees. Dang, I need a camera.

Anyone have any ideas? I haven't put anything new in the tank for months.

It's possible, dodo...but it goes all the way around. It's bizarre. I'm going to keep an eye on it. I can always cut it out later.

I wonder if there's a nudibranch that does this kind of thing...?

I had a small basket star on a gorgonian that looked like white thread wrapped around the branches. It was very cool when it opened up to feed.

That's a possibility...the thing that's got me a little wigged out is that it has squeezed several branches together...could it be some sort of nest?

The thing is, I don't have more than one of anything. :?

Could it be a sessile ctenophore?

They have these long tentacles that can get all bunched up. And they hang out on leathers a lot.

Look anything like this?

We went and saw a movie...so no camera yet.

I dunno, Matt...it's possible. Whatever it is has fused 3 branches together...and the bottom of the webbing is turning brown.

I just showed my wife to make sure I wasn't crazy...she's got no idea either.

No anemone...I'm wondering if it's a nest. And I'm wondering if whatever comes out of it is going to kill me in my sleep.

Touch the thing and see what it does. Have you tried to remove it yet? Blow it with the turkey baster and see what happens.
