Hi all,

I just bought a pair of percula's Last night and I noticed today that one of them has cotton like substance between its two white stripes. I can tell its bothering him a little he tends to twich toward that side. I dont belive it is ich, a fungus maybe? how do i treat it? Freshwater dip?

John it sonds like your clown has cotton mouth disease. While it resembles a fungal infection, it's probably actually bacterial. You will need to treat it with antibiotics in a seperate hospital tank. A freshwater dip (or any dip for that matter) will not cure the fish. I haven't successully treated fish with this disease, so hopefully others will have more input. I'll copy this over to the General Reef Discussion forum too.
