What has anyone on here with a Wolf Eel found to be a succefull way to feed (any special technique or specilaized food)?

I recenty aquired one and as I give it chunks of frozen food (squid, krill, plankton, beefhearts, etc) it seems to take a greater interest in my finger and tends to only chase the food around, snatch at it and spit everything out without any consumption. I have two small damsels in the tank with it, which I assume would have been eaten if the wolf eel was consumed by hunger.

Is there any other type of food I should try, Live or forzen? Technique to feeding it without having it lunge at my fingers.

I've kept them before, amongst my other morays(they're not actually an eel) and they ate silversides with no problem- I use a long handled pair of tongs to hold the silverside by the tail to feed...

...a wolf eel should be easy to feed. IME they tend to wolf down (hardy har har) anything they see...err..smell. try some frozen squid, most critters cant resist it.

I have an 18" Morray in a 255 gallon tank who absolutely loves squid and sea scallops. I use high quality frozen squid and scallops (people food not fish food) that I thaw under cold water immediately prior to use. I chop 4 or 5 pieces about the size of a nickel and drop them into the tank in a spot where it is easy for her to get at them (and easy for me to be sure she has eaten the pieces). She always finds the food using her keen sense of smell - their eyesight it not great.

I used to feed her using long tongs, but I think the tongs intimidated her and she would never take the food from the tongs.

Have patience - she will let you know when she is hungry!

I think they're really neat looking, and I'd consider getting one if I had any room.
