Well I picked up an awsome Sunflower coral at my LFS. It size was absolutely HUGE!! Probably the size of a small melon when fully extended. Now it isn't near as big but what concerns me is the center of it, it will pop out but not like the edges. The light 2 175w 10k. I have recently ordered a 15k bulb but it has yet to come in. I also supplement with 2 96w 03 Actintic.

Nothing out of the ordinary for water parameters. Should I try placing it lower in the tank??

What Guy said, beautiful coral with a lousy survival rate.

Those corals very often do not do well at all.

Feel free to try and make it happy, maybe it would like a new position in the tank, but they often fail to thrive for no reason that we can detect.

In lieu of repeating what others have said about that type of coral's survival rate, let's try and get some further info from you. What's your setup like? What are your water parameters and values?

I've read that the few people who have gotten these to thrive seemingly have more organics in the water (as opposed to a bare botton SPS type setup) and feed phyto, Cyclopeeze and DTs oyster eggs.

Well I've placed it slightly lower in the tank, with a little more water flow. Will see what it does the next day or so.
