I've got an outbreak of Lobophora algae or brown wafer algea......lps told me it only grows in good water conditions.....which I have.....and Naso is only fish to eat it. I have urchins, emerald crab, snails.....but I guess they're too many things better tasting in the tank to eat.

225 gal setup with 1250 watts.....I'll give specifics if needed...but really just want to know how to kill it. NO phosphates measured today.

Anyone have any addtional thoughts.....can't scrub it....it's on bottom rocks.

THANKS

I had Lobophora in a previous tank of mine. Long spine urchins would eat it, but because of their large diameter, they never really could get into the nooks and crannies, and a lot of algae was left untouched.

Try a foxface. They are notorious algae pigs and will consume just about every vegetation IME.

Thanks....

My urchin hasn't gotten around to it.....guess he likes the "other" algea better. Will a foxface do ok with Purple tang, Hippo, Flame angel...... in tank?

I was told by lps, that a naso would eat it??

Naso may eat it, but it's not surefire. Neither is a foxface, but IME you have a better shot with these guys. Yep, it'll get along in your tank after the initial settling in period. The Purple and Hippo may give it a hard time at the start, but it would do the same with a Naso.
