Hey guys, Just wanted to introduce my self and say hello.

My name is Jacob, moved back to nyc 5 months ago after being away for 10 years. The last tank I had was in Hawaii, but I had to tear it down and sell it for the move back.

I really wasn't planning on setting up another tank till I found a more permanant living situation (renting an apt right now), but I'm sure a lot of you can sympathize when I say I got the "bug" again.

I've been through a move with a salt water tank before, but I guess I really haven't learned my lesson the first time.

So.....

I was wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction as to where I can get my goodies here in manhattan!

Thanks guys!

P.S-Anyone have any experience with the CADlights nano tanks?

Hahaha...yeah...I'm sure you're aware of their restrictions down there. My supply was Very limited, but I was able to get my hands on enough to make my tank look decent.

I lived in Hawaii for 6+ years, and dove down there as well. The islands in general are suprisingly lacking in reef life.

Jacob,

Welcome aboard - enjoy all that MR has to offer - I would stay up late nights reading MR - use the search tool - there are so many threads on tank buying, locations, custom building companies, etc. Very good late night reading

BTW, your timing is great. We're having a frag swap this Sunday. Not only a great place to pickup livestock, but a great time to meet some members. We're having it in Yonkers at a nice little watering hole

It definitely has limited types of corals, mostly encrusting.
Here are some of my snaps I took snorkeling, on the Big Island on Mauna Kea Beach.

You're a lucky man, I would love to live there for a few years.
Planning to go again in July, Maui + Oahu.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Those are great pics inline6!

I lived and dove out of oahu. (which in my opinion has the least life)

I wish I could attend the frag swap this weekend, but unfortunately I have some prior engagements to attend to.

I'm considering the CADlights 25 or 34 as a temporary fix for now. I've actually never owned an "all-in-one" system before and have some reservations about it.
