howdy,
purchased some new lr. plenty of hitch hikers :D . one however is really interesting. it looks like an glass anemone except its completely clear. it has an organge tube in its foot. it only comes out at night and pulls back into its stalk when light is shinned onto it.
sorry cant post a pic and i know its fairly crappy description.
ive tried the usual identification sites but havent found it
thx

Probably a genus and species of the order: Ceriantharia (Tube Anemone), almost impossible to ID down to genus and species without disection.

thanks david,
so im assuming tube anemones are relativly harmless?
i mean they must be capable of stinging there prey or otherwise they wouldnt be nocturnal ie would be photosynthesing during the day.
your thoughts?
let live/ remove?

I'm just guessing what it is from your general desciption, so if it is a genus and species of Ceriantharia most are relatively harmless though a few species are capable of catching small fish and shrimp. If it were me I'd keep an eye on it and remove if needed.

My guess is that they are Corallimorphus profundus or more likely, Pseudocorynactis sp..

They are harmless. I never feed them and they do not get bigger than a quater.
