I have seen my green brittle star fish attack on several occasions. It first started when some injured green chromis turned up missing. Someone suggested it was the starfish, but we all just thought he was a scavanger and wouldn't harm the fish.

We were then feeding a golden headed jawfish with a meat baster (Since we couldnt get him to eat) and while the LIGHT was ON the green starfish came over to where the jawfish was and grabbed him, luckily the little guy got away but we never saw him after that.

Then, we were watching him one night with a flash light and he did the "tent" approach to a school of the green chromis. He herded them all into a corner of the tank while he was on his two "feet". He got one chromis that night.

Then just tonight, we thought he wouldnt hurt anyone since he had a BIG belly from feeding earlier, but he actually lured a domino damsle fish in to him. He hid under the rock and left out just the very tip of his arm. Then he twitched the arm so it almost looked like a worm. As soon as the damsle bit at it, the starfish rolled up his arm catching the little fish inside.

We are down to just two chromis out of 7 (I will admit that some were injured first becuase of our filter) a missing jawfish, two domino damsles, and i am worried about my green mandarin fish. Even though they are supposed to be poisonous, i get worried every time the mandarin tries to "clean" off the top of the big brittle star fish.
