The sea cucumber is Pentacta anceps

The fuzzy shot looks a bit like an Aiptaisa anemone.

I had a friend that lost his tank to aiptasia, cuz he thought they were cute little anemones..then they rapidly multiplied..killing his coral off..It was to the point he couldnt control the aiptasia...and you really cant control them..either you rid them completely or let them completely rid your tank...there is no pruning with these guys..they spread very fast...

Ok, just found out that I have several species that hunt aptasia already in my tank. I'll leave this one in there for them to feed on unless I see more of them. Aparently, attempting to remove them phisically can cause them to spontaniously reproduce through fission! 8O

What do you have that will eat them?

BTW, just noticed you have an exposed powerhead intake in the tank. You need to get that covered ASAP. If mr. cucumber finds it and gets sucked up, you can say bye bye to your entire tank.

I've got sponges going on to the powerheads tonight.

At any rate, I have hermits galore and peppermint shrimp, both are known for chowing down on those guys.

The peppermints will, but I've never heard of hermits doing that 8O

Red legged ones do acording to a couple sites. Also, there is conflicting evidence as to weather or not my emerald crabs will like them as well.

Emeralds probably wont and doubtful that the redlegged hermits will... Redlegged hermits may nip at corals and other anemones but unlikely keep the aiptasia under control...You may also find that the peppermint shrimp is hit or miss with aiptasia...There are times they eat it and times they dont..
