i am building a custom tank that is 96"long 36"wide 30"tall.. i need to know how thick of glass i need im thinkin 1/2" and what kind of glass temperd glass or not. i am using a low iron front and sides.. i am building a custom stand out of 1 1/2 square tubing, should i place anyting under the tank, between the tank and stand. also where to get that black trim all around the top and bottom .... or should i just forget about it

According to Exotic Aquarium Fishes by Dr. William Innes you should be ok if you use 1/2" glass. It doesn't need to be tempered. You probably should have at least two braces across the center.

yes i was planning on doing eurobracing.. just a one piece brace all around the top of the tank....

andone else have any inpit to my previous post

If I was going to make a tank that size and Euro brace it, I would have the glass lazer cut. Thick glass doesn't break perfect and grinding the edges flat is difficult. I suspect you can buy the tank already made for about as cheap as you can make it. Good luck.

I was looking to get a tank made that was 30" High and the builder was going to use 3/4' Glass. To reduce the cost we dropped the height to 26". Now we're down to 1/2" sides and 3/4" bottom.
Your tank is bigger and 30" tall I would get some professional input to your decision.
