Does anyone know any tricks for getting a better, not-so-blurry picture when taking pictures of your fish tank? I have a Canon PowerShot A60 2 MegaPixel digital camera, and although all my regular pictures come out great, anything phtographed inside the tank is blurry. I see so many other people with great pics...am I missing something here? Thanks again.

Alot of the time it's the photo editing that's the problem.
1. Take picture and upload into computer.
2. Transfer to photo editing software.
3. Open new photo window w/300 dpi and a small size (say 1x? if going to upload to bb).
4. Reduce picture into smaller size "frame" or put smaller "frame" over what it is your trying to get a close up of.
5. Crop remaining picture
6 Save

As long as you've gotten a clear picture to begin with, this helps for all those close ups or just reducing the pixel amount. Your picture SHOULD come out very clear unless it wasn't clear to begin with.

It sure sounds like your camera is focusing on the glass instead of the animals inside. Ahve you tried a manual focus?

Make sure your glass is really clean before taking a picture. I've found pictures are best taken at night with only the tank lighting on, with a tripod.

Here are a couple of tips

1. Clean the glass
2. Turn off all of the pumps so there is no flow at all in the tank
3. Use a tripod or sit your camera on something and use a remote or timer on the camera to actually take the picture
4. If you have a manual focus, use it. Often times the autofocus in the camera gets confused and focuses on something other than what you want it too.
5. Make sure your lens on your camera is clean, a fingerprint can show up as blur especially if the one thing you are focusing on is right where the print is.

Finally, it is very hard to get pictures of fish because they are normally moving. It will be easier to get pictures of coral's and rocks and crabs. If you need help getting pictures of fish you need to adjust the speed of the camera, and that is something you should ask the people in the photography forum. ( I still have problems getting that right all the time :D)

Have fun
