greetings,

i am looking for an ocean runner 2500 (OR series) pump.
all that i can find have a needle wheel conversion.
does anyone know of an online dealer selling unmodified pumps?

thank you,
bruce

you folks are good, thank you for the sites.

i was just about ready to check out, then i got to thinking about if this will fit in to my sump.

i checked all the sites i could find, but none of them list physical dimentions. is there a way to find out how big this pump is?

hoping this is as quiet as they say it is . . .

thanx again

I just measured about 6" long, about 5" tall (not including the output fitting on top) and about 5" wide (that's the base/suction cups - actual pump body is a bit narrower).

IME it ran very quietly and is well constructed, but like other submersible pumps I've used, it needed to be cleaned every few months to perform reliably (calcium build-up).

I've had one of those too. :) Personally, I didn't think it was as quiet as the OceanRunner, nor as well built. I killed it in just a few months so I wasn't too impressed (must have been a lemon).

As far as the flow rate, assuming you're going to have at least a 1" drain on the main tank, it should be fine. After head+friction losses you'll probably only be seeing about 500-600 GPH out of it (which a 1" drain should handle).

greetings,

i wanted to write back and thank you all for help choosing a new pump. i ended up with the ocean runner. it ended up fitting just fine in the sump. it is very quiet and does not seem to run very warm.

here is a picture, just because.

thanx again

Very nice pic! BTW, the ocean runner is not submersible, it's either submersible or external.

i do not understand. the instructions say that it can be used submersible as well as external. there is a diagram of it being used in the sump.
did i miss something?

thank you,
bruce
