I just lost my only fish. He was an undulated triggerfish that I had for close to seven years. It was an electrical accident - water overflowed onto a lighting ballast and zapped him. He was tough, but not that tough.

So now I have an empty 80 gallon tank, except for some liverock, mushrooms, and star polyps. I am trying to decide what to fill it with. I definitely don't want another big trigger, grouper, or eel, but wouldn't mind doing a species tank - maybe a harlequin shrimp pair.

The idea of having more than one or two things in there sounds nice, but I wan't to be cautious about overcrowding.

Any good recommendations on species tanks, community tanks, mated pairs, or outstanding single fish?

A pair of dwarf lionfish would be nice, and they are small enough that you could keep something else with them.

I think an 80 gallon tank is a bit large for a pair of shrimp.

It really depends what you want. Large fish or small fish? An interesting idea would be a frogfish.

fu-man-chu.

err wait thats one word :) I like fumanchu lions, I think a pair would do quite nicely in a 80 gallon.
