i like the lifereef but it's a bit biggish. i wish the box was smaller. it didn't have to be that big. i have a new double overflow on order (if it ever arrives-three weeks now, d'oh).
i've used the cpr too. it's a nice sleek design but the floods from siphon stopping just proved too much. the tube designs are like ben states, peace of mind. but i'd go with a model with a smaller box if i had to do over the lifereef choice. (like the amiracle?)
i thought the slim line design was only regarding the rear box (i.e. outside the tank)? if he makes a smaller catch basin (inside tank) then i've gots no complaints.
btw, the dual overflow i ordered was not from lifereef. just wanted to clarify that, it read like it was from lifereef to me.
The slim line is just a slimmer back box to allow it to fit behind a tank that sits close to a wall. I picked up a Lifereef from Louey here on RDO. I spent alot of time comparing boxes, and found a few who have had bad results with the CPR (floods). The huge overflow box that goes in the tank made for some creative rescaping of my 16 month old established system. Now if I could just finish off the rest of the overflow line to the sump and get it running, I'll be all set.
FWIW, while researching, I found out that the Amiracle is supposed to be just as good as the Lifereef. Last time I checked the Lifereef's where on a 6 week backorder.
