Why do you think that Righty? That's an interesting idea.
Bryopsis seems to get nutrients from where it is rooted.
And I was thinking about rock cooking and the idea that people seem to have HA problems even with no nutrients in the water.

Sounds like whatever is grazing the algae doesn't go inside the overflow box. You might want to try blocking the light from getting in the overflow if that's an option.
