Here's the deal, I have a 45 gal 24x18x12 tank that the glass is scratched up bad. I currently have a 3" crushed coarl base w/ 45+lb of LR.The tank is about 4 y/o. Problem about a year ago I got a nitrate spike from all the crap in the crushed coral. Removed it all and washed it, started over. Everything is going fine lots of critters and great coraline groth. I have a bad bristal worm problem right now but traps are deployed and working well.
Here is the delema, I was given a 45 gal hex tank w/ stand and I was thinking about moving everything over to that tank. It is much beter shape. I know I'm probably opening up a can of worms here but has anyone had luck with the barebottom approch? I run it in my quarn. tank w/ 10lb of LR and it seems fine.
I currently only have 2 yellow tailed damsels and a coral bueaty in the tank and some assorted softies and palops.
Ok I asked for it......
