Actually some organisms can "show up" in our tanks from "nowhere". Those are bacterias and viruses. However, the bug that causes ich is far too big to just be air-borne. Similarly, if they don't get through the "stick-on-the-fish" phase, they can't reproduce... So I'm with Jim here!
