I have that same thing, but I dont see that much flow on yours, can you post what kinda flow you have and the belly of the beast so to speak and the sump you run.

It has a durso overflow that pushes 1100/GPH. Here's some pics of the sump and tank before we put it together. It pushes out an enormous flow to the right (longer) side of the tank, The left side doesn't get a lot of flow and currently I have a powerhead in the corner. the Tunze powerstream is on my wishlist.

It actually works pretty well, as I put coral like my Xenia that doesn't like the hard flow in the left side and other types on the right where they get more current.

It's not really a "new" tank, per se. The live rock was cured in the dealer's tanks (sat there for 3+ months growing coralline and was out of water only a short time) and most of the sand was "live" from another tank I'd broken down so it's almost like cheating.

It really didn't even do a traditional cycle, which is why I feel its okay to have that much stuff in it this soon. I keep a tight check on all the params looking for trouble.

I have same thing I have a quiet one 6000 going about 1100 gph then one maxi jet 900 with a *something*flo that spins the water out of the head of it, on the right and then a maxijet 1200 on the left side doing the same, I will post some pics, I have the main out of the sump split into to, did that from hearing aobut its about flow not volicty (sp?) and I will be splitting the sump off into the fuge I have so the fuges out wil be to the left side so I have good all over flow.


But thanks for the pics they l=helped me know I am doing it alright so far.

Okay, how do you keep that green star in such a nice shape. Do you trim it once in a while? Mine is growing all over the place!

Thanks guys. But now I need to decide what to put on that right high flow/high light side as far as a stand alone piece of coral.

I trim it with a sharp razor and glue the pieces to other rocks for buddy's tanks. It must like that spot because it's growing like mad.

It has a nice orange sponge running through it that I'm careful not to cut. I'm not sure if the sponge would 'like' being trimmed.

Don't have an Emerald and was considering getting one, but I've heard mixed things about them and other critters in the tank.

They are pretty good with the bubble. I think they are pretty easy to catch as well. I have moved them from tank to tank in the past.
