i just bought a 92 gallon corner tank predrilled aga with twinflow prefilter. It has what resembles a durso standpipe though it has a hole on top and several drilled in the side. It makes so much damn noise i cannot believe it. It also sends a mix of water and air down into the wet dry that also makes alot of noise. I am going to situate the wetdry so that the tube does not turn at all (intake on wetdry and pipe under tank line up) and am going to remove the 90 degree elbow tso that water flows straight into the drip plate. Do you think a real durso standpipe would help? What a POS!

here is a link to the pics from the aga website...

I am sure a durso would help, also be sure the overflow line goes about 1" underwater in your sump to stop the splashing noise. I use the stockman standpipe on my 40 breeder and it is very quite.

Can you choke off some of the flow back to the sump? If you can get a couple inches of water backed up into the overflow, you will silence the potty noises.

yup, been there.

i had to play with the curve of the flexible pipe coming to the sump and the angle at which the elbow enters the sump. i also supported the flexible pipe about midway. mine does not do it anymore, but i have the old version of the return, not the durso mod. can you adjust the air flow in the hole on the top of the standpipe? it is air building up in a pocket in the pipe and then letting go when it gets too big.

k..i replumbed the tube going into the sump and it make a big difference. I simply lined it up so that it was a straight drop. The twinflow box still makes a bunch of noise. covering the hole on the top does not make much of a difference. Thanks for the help on the downpipe though. The biggest problem is that the stand is low and there is not much drop from the bottom of the tank to the top of the sump. Therefore, you have to be creative with the pumbing...a simple 1inch hose barb on each side and regular plastic 1 inch hose did the trick. No roo, for the shut off valve to reduce the pressure. The sump is now real quiet. I have my mag drive suspended (dangling) about 1/4 inch from the bottom so that is makes almost no noise. Now i am going to tackle the prefilter noise. Rich Durso was very helpful and i think i will order one of his pipes to see if it is better.

Thanks for all your help...
