hi everyone,
anyone here knows that yellow polyps could breed sexually? and perhaps I think they can then again has anyone ever raised yellow polyps successfully through sexually breeding?
guess what happen in my tank recently, my yellow polyp which I just got for about 3 days did something that was new to me, first when I on the lights, and after my yellow polyps was expanded, a strong and thick jet of white milky thing was expel from one of the polyp it didn't look like any normal expelling of waste, but I didn't think it was so I sat down and watch on after maybe 5 mins another polyp expelled clusters of things that look like eggs and perhaps they are. so any comments about this?
the process took place very fast and so I didn't manage to take any photos srry bout that .
thx

I've never seen of heard of that. When I had yellow polyps they reproduced by budding. I'm sure that it is possible that can sexually reproduce.

What you saw was probably sperm being broadcast. Yellow polyps will reproduce sexually as will any Cnidarian. You'll need both male and female gametes for this to theoritically occur, but the chances of spawns maturing to mature adulthood is unlikely in our tanks.

These polyps will produce faster by asexually budding .... often at a rate that people find problematic. Make sure to give yellow polyps a lot of room for growth, preferably on an "island" rock of their own. They can spread fast and choke out all other sessile life.

Far out that's very cool, but be aware they will take over your rocks, i had yellow polyps that i put between two rocks, before i knew it they were all over, i should have put the rock by itself, good luck.
