Question about RO/DI set-up

I recently just purchased a ro/di set-up and put it together today. My question is how much flow should i be recieving from the good water hose? The waste water is a steady stream and the good water only really trickles out. Any ideas. I'm pretty sure our water pressure here is good enough.

That's the annoying thing with RO, only about 15-20% of the water in is produced as 'good' water, while the rest is waste. That's exactly how mine runs, so it is normal.

What can you do with the waste water? I have one but have never set it up because I really don't want to pour all that down the drain....

The waste water is safe for drinking too I believe.

When I purchased my Kent Maxxima Hi-S, it was advised that it would take about 10 days of run-time before the reverse osmosis membrane was fully saturated & that maximum product output would not be reached until then. Even then, your RO/DI should be rated for GPD (gallons per day, mine is rated for 35). Multiple factors like water pressure & temperature will have an effect on this as well. I know I have lower presure & being well water in the winter, am sure my water is very cold. My product output is also only a trickle. Takes about 6 hrs to get about 5 gallons.

Well i tested it today and it made 5 gallons in one hour, which it is a 110gpd unit from filter direct so i guess it is working like it was supposed to. Just didn't think it would add up.

What exactly is in the waste water?

Here is a :idea: Hook up a resin filter to the waste water output and then the water would be usable, right?

"Concentrated" tap water, filtered.

you want flow well my ro produces 60 gals per hour yes per hour it has a 4'' by 42'' membrane and a procon pump for boost it is sweet. Why so big you ask well because I can and I only payed 200 bucks for it . it fills up a romate 80(40 gallon) in just under an hour and the romate gives me a stream of water out of a garden hose with more presure than city presure so I always have 40 gallons on hand if needed but if you are currious how much of how good your ro is producind take a tds reading from plain old tap water then take an ro product water reading say tap is 300 and ro is6 tds than you rejct percentage isabout 98%
