I've got a little problem with the outside of my acrylic tank - its all hazy all of a sudden, i think i might have used a rag that had some soap (like bar soap - dial) on it and now it has a haze i just cant get off... any ideas? I tried a rag with some dawn and it may have helped a little but it is still pretty annoying....

Some solvent can danage acrylic, so make sure you don't use anything harsh.

Is the haze due to oily film, or physical damage to the acrylic surface?

its not because of solvent or anything like that.. at worst it would be from a rag that had bar soap on it - nothing harsh... and it isnt age cause the tank is only a couple months old.... I'm thinking it would be oily buildup and not damage- I Think it would come off with a polishing wheel sort of thing maybe.... except i dont have one... so im looking for other options...

How about vinegar? Can that damage acrylic?

I have no idea... but I've used vinegar for washing windows (about one cup of vinegar per 5-10 cups H2O), and it works pretty well.

If it was just some soap residue, warm water would get it off pretty well (use a clean rag :) ). If that doesn't do it, I'd say it was something else on that rag.

Mixture of white vinegar and water, wipe on and off with clean soft towels.

Strong acetic acid can damage acrylic, but vinegar won't hurt.
