Save yourself the trouble. Go on eBay. Shearch for RO unit. Spend $40 or upwards to $100 on a system, and not worry about your water supplier's quality.

Your water company's chemistry will change though out time (better or worse) and therefore can not be depenedent on like a good RO system.

Go nuts. Add on a DI unit for even better water.

Its not worth the algae blooms you may go through; it will be one of your best investments.

Clean water for your reef and for your nightly glass of water, no matter what is going on with your company's water quality.

Not that you should do anything but follow the advice above and get an RO (or better, RO/DI) BUT.... - I think its a federal requirement that all municipalities test their water supplies and make the reports from those tests available to the public.

My locals post it on their website but also like above its pretty far out of date and things change quite a bit all the time. (My manager is also the director of my local wastewater treatment facility - where I used to get free excess RO/DI water that they used for testing..)

Make the investment, its worth it.

Even good tap water contains trace elements, and over time they'll build up in the tank cause algae/cyano problems.
