See a pic of my 2 month old (since curing) 210g. The rock is covered in green, but not green strands/hairs, just green. Could this be new tank syndrome? It's almost like a green stain on the rock. There is really nothing in the tank but snails and crabs at this time. All 200 lbs of LR is discolored.
Will this ever go away? Nothing seems to work, 20% water change, decreased lighting, etc.

I purchased some LR when I started out that had some of that colour on it. A slimy yellowish green. It had an almost waxy look to it.

Everything is purple now, so in my case, it went away.

And now that all my LR is all purple, I kinda miss it.

The rock I have looked good up until a week ago. That's when the green color appeared--practically overnight. Its not waxy in appearance. When I scrub the rock it does not come off. How long have you had your rock?

I have seen that on newish rock often, I don't really know what it is but has never been a problem.

I always assumed it was bleached corraline with a thin film of green algae, but I really have no idea. It never sticks around in my tank.

Well, it seems to be algae. Its going on two weeks now and the LR looks pretty bad overall. Its green and dark brown (like diatoms, but with no diatoms on the glass or substrate). I'm running a Ca+2 reactor but intend to begin to dose kalkwasser to also raise the pH.
