I'm almost ready to get a new alkalinity test kit because the one that I have is old and I think is giving me wrong results.... I'm looking for something accurate, fast and with very different color results, you know, sometimes you get a result and you are not sure is bluish green, greenish blue or purple or violet and you don't really know what you got.. And one more thing; I hate tritation methods.

Am I asking for to much...

Thanks

Salifert hands down. Although it is a titration kit, it doesn't take long. All you do is add two drops of color indicator to 4 mL of tank water. Then use the 1 mL syringe provided to drop the part two in the vial. Color changes from blue green to pink. Very easy and never takes more than 3 minutes total time.

It's true Lamotte is the best as you do get what you pay for. I find that it isn't very economical considering it is easier to use reliable cheap kits coupled with observation of the inhabitants. Unless you're a chemist like Randy Holmes-Farley or a serious stickler for numbers most hobbyists have better uses for their hobby fund than scientific grade kits.

Just my 2 cents.
