Can everybody just put a frag in a baggie, and send it to me, free of charge?

That would be great, thanks!!

I have a nice tri color plana frag growing out, its green then blue with purple tips. It isnt from a limited edition stock but is my favorite piece. Funny thing is I passed on it at the LFS for weeks and eventually bought it when it went on sale for $50 for the colony. Since then it has colored up like crazy and grown nicely. Otherwise I only have commons like blue ORA milli/ORA rose milli, ect...and softies

Pulsing sinularia, eagle eye zoas, bright green sinularia, ect...

So yes I would like to do it also. :P

I'm considering my Crayola Table as my contribution to the SPS category:

Not the best pic but you get the idea. I took one frag the day a got it a few months back and that is the one I have to trade. I always take a frag on new pieces as insurance and once they are established I trade them away.

I also love it. Like I said I passed on it at my LFS for awhile and bought others around it. It was brown with some purple in the tips and I thought I MAY be able to get it to color up some, and it did. :D

So let me know when you have this swap all figured out!

I have a bunch of leathers, zoanthids, ric's (ofcourse! LOL!), lps, and some sps (mostly monti caps, and digitata).
Nothing rare or limited though.
I would love to trade with you guys if you decide to broaden the range a little. (snails, shrimp, and crabs too).
I'll trade for any thing I dont already have realy.

This reminds me of the whole - "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer" theme :D But anyways, I wish that I had something cool to swap, it sounds like a great idea and if this does happen in the future (when I get some cool stuff too) I'd like to know about it.

Great! So, there's still interest.

I'm thinking of listing 3 categories:

Collectibles (Rare)
Hard Corals (SPS & LPS)
Softies (xenia, zoas, etc.)

Shipping won't be cheap, which is why I only considered Rare items in the beginning. Since there's plenty of you that would like to exchange regular stuff as well, the more the merrier.

Since this will be our 1st attempt at doing this, we'll simply do a single entry, this time around. After you confirm with me, what frag you'll be entering, I'll submit your name into one of the 3 categories. I can tentatively set this entry deadline for May 1st.

By this time, your frag should already be mounted. For this event, it would be best that each piece be encrusted or attached to a base, ensuring optimal health. We can than make the ship out day, Thursday, June 1st.

In the following weeks after May 1st, I will randomly draw the names of each category and match everyone up with the Swap Buddy. We can also discuss a universal shipping method for each piece, prior to June 1st. Cost of shipping should be roughly the same both ways.

Again, this is entirely new, so I'm open to any other suggestions.

I chopped off a 1/3" piece of my True Superman Monti here:

This'll be my entry to the Collectibles group. Should be well encrusted by June :P

Karl, how are you insureing that the piece you are getting in return isn't something you already have? I wish I had found this thread earlier, sounds like a fun idea. Unfortunately the vast majority of my stock is still frags...I do have that bali blue/aquamarine stag that I could frag, but I don't have a piece that's fragged and healed on hand.

Dave,

Thanks for bringing that up. I really wanted to discuss this as well.

I have no way of ensuring you'll get a piece that you already without knowing what everyone has in their system. What I can do is list how the drawing came up a couple of weeks before shipping, and if you happen to get something that you already have, you can try and work out an exchange with another grouped pair. It sort of takes away the meaning of a swap, but I see no problem with it if you're trying to get out of receiving a duplicate, and not just trying to get one that you'd much rather have.
