G'day,

have read about most things need for my 10 footer. Was wondering whether UV Sterilizers and Calcium reactors are essential if so what do i look for?

and other than tank, sump, refuge, lights, skimmer, wakemaker

what else do I need? (the bigger stuff I mean)

Regards Darren :)

P.S. want to keep wide variety coral species, clams, fish and an anenome

Reactors aren't needed however can be GREAT asset for time and laziness :) 2 Part gets to be a pain.
IMO, on a tank that size, I would not get a UV system. UV kills both good and bad. Not only being expensive, but I don't find it helpful.

I would consider ozone if you want a crystal crystal clear tank. It's really amazing. Setup run you abouve 250 bucks.

I also make my own 2 part and magnesium for raising levels while my reactor maintains. Between testing/adjustments, I use the 2 part mix to balance it out right. It's really easy and cheap.

I would also buy a couple UPS's. It's great when power goes out and can keep the pumps going. I am also planning on getting an aquacontroller eventually also.

and as for power we are on wind generators, so power wont go out.....

even on still days there is enough :)

Ozone generators inject O3 in to the water collum shooting intoyour protein skimmers becket or venturi.
It literally "gabs" tiny molecuels of "crap" that O2 misses.
You use an air pump behind them to push the O2 into your skimmer.
It makes the skimmer work twice as effiecient IMHO.
I have used a sanders Ozonizer for years now.
They will clear your water up crystal clear in no time flat when you use them with a skimmer.

Yes if you use a T valve. You can also make your own ozone reactor which is better. Do not buy the ones prebuilt as it was known to fall apart easily. I inject mine into a skimmer for ease.

so o2 03 and calcium reactions can get injected, i understand the reason for o2 o3 but not calcium reactors

No. I wouldn't inject it into a calcium reactor. The flow from the reactor into the tank is drips and is too slow. You only inject it into your skimmer. o2 goes into your skimmer normally like an ASM skimmer. You just T the line and add the ozone/o3.

What he said I also use a Sanders and imo they are the best for quality and workmanship

Then

You can also make your own ozone reactor which is better. Do not buy the ones prebuilt as it was known to fall apart easily.

LOL!!!!!
Your confusing me.

CO2 ONLY into your calcium reactor.

O2 is replaced via O3 for foam fractionation purposes in your skimmer.
To some degree O2 is mixed in when it passes through the Ozonizer but not much. as long as you have good flow in your tank and good breathing room under your hood this will not effect the gas exchange process or deplete the oxygen from your tank. :)

The reactor, not the unit :) They have acrylic reactors which you push ozone into that are more effecient then pushing into a skimmer. I believe red sea has one that isn't any good and falls apart quickly. The ozone unit itself is da bomb! :) Sorry if I was confusing. I'm a man. We always screw up the way we say stuff.
