The tank is about 5' from my bed. I was using a PanWorld 50PXX 1200 GPH for my CL but it suddenly got very loud. I cleaned it and and checked the shaft and impeller, ect. Opened the whole thing up checked the fan and motor housing but it still runs loud. Although it is running fine I cant deal with the new noise.

So suggest me a new 1200-2000 GPH CL pump? Unless you know how I can fix my noisy PanWorld.

Thanks!

Where's the noise coming from? I'm using the same pump for my return pump, but it's only been running for a short while.

I've had an Iwaki 30RLXT for several years, and that one ran quiet for the entire time I has it.

It is coming from the motor housing. Sounds like a constant rubbing but when inspected it doesnt show anything out of normal. There is a metal washer that is warped to hold the rotor part of the housing up and keeps the magnet part from touching the inside at all, it sounds like that is where the noise is coming from. I replaced the washer, as I have a practically new one I can use for parts, I fried that one by mistake by plugging it in with about a cup of water in the motor housing after I cleaned it, opps.

Replacing the washer didnt help. I dunno?

I'm clueless too. Maybe get another as a spare and send your's back for repair (if it's under 2 years, it's still warrantied). Hopefully I don't encounter this problem, or else I'm going back to my trusty Iwaki.

The one I fried myself was less then a year old but this other one that has become loud is over the 2 year mark, I think.

I was looking at the sequence reefflo dart but in a 40 breeder, I think the 3600 GPH would be too much.

Maybe this one would work, its the 750 model. Is it as quiet as the dart pumps? My return pipe is only 1" PVC is 1900 GPH going to be ok or would I need to mainflod it into a few return spots?

Maybe I should just send it back in for repair, and save my mula for the CA reactor.

My Sequence Hammerhead is much too noisy for the living room. After fooling with a rediculous contraption of sheets of insulation and spray foam in the cabinet and on the pipe and everywhere else, I finally just cut a hole in the floor and I'll put it just below the floor in the basement.

I recently set up a closed loop with a Dart pump on an oceanmotions 4 way. It is suprisingly quiet....relative to everything else in my reef room.

Well I must have a bum hammerhead then. Even in the basement its too loud as its directly below our bed. It kicks out the jams though.
