Booster Pump help....Please...

I just bought a CDP 8800 booster pump for use with my AquaFX RO/DI/ Drinking water system.

I have the booster pump attached to my feed water and the pressure switch in line near my product output.

The pressure has increased from 25lbs to 65lbs which is great but my source water line is rattling and banging like crazy against my wall. Did I do something wrong or is there something wrong with the pump?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried just anchoring the line to the wall so it can't move around?
I've never used a booster pump so I'm not sure what normal is in this case, but I would email the manufacturer if I had any doubts.

Maybe someone else will chime in that actually uses a booster pump...

I thought about anchoring it to the wall and that's what I'll do if this is how it's supposed to operate.

Make sure there is no restriction between the booster pump and the water source, like a partially opened valve.

You should check with the manufacture to see if you need to install device for the "water hammer" problem if you can't find any issue. It is not good for your plumbing system if it bangs and rattles, and you do need to get this issue solved.

I thought the pressure switch should be in between the booster pump and the RO/DI Unit. Putting it on the product output line won't show the true pressure as there is also water going out the waste line right?


Just a thought, it should say exactly where to place it in the instructions....

Here is a blurb from someone I came across, its not about that particular system, but they should all work similar...

For those of you that have not gotten your pressure switches to work...I was suprised by the installation instructions that came with the booster pump assembly. I really am not mechanically inclined to have had a educated guess how it would go together, but thought they would go inline one right after the other...they don't. The cold water runs to the booster pump which then pumps it to the sediment filter and the carbon filters, when it comes out of the first three stages it goes into the solenoid and out to the RO membrane, from there it goes to the pressure switch and out to the tank and/or DI. If you've got them one right after the other or do not have the flow oriented through the solenoid properly that may be why it doesn't work. The pressure switch doesn't have a certain way to flow through it.

One last thought, I had a water hammer problem in my home well water system when I re-did it, turned out I had a valve turned off in between the pump and the expansion tank.

What does that mean to you? Maybe adding a small expansion tank after the booster pump.

Today is saturday, there should be a water company open for a couple more hours somewhere near you, give em a call....

Thanks everyone! I figured out the problem.... Part of it was I recently added a bypass valve with the wrong flow restrictor in it but on top of that I also left the correct restrictor in line which meant I had two restrictors in line....


The second problem was the adjustment of the pump it's self. No where in the directions did it tell me it was adjustable but I found how to do it on a website and it also helped quiet things down.

I can't wait until tomorrow, I think I'm getting lots of Marine Depot gift cards..
