Cloudy water after set up during cycle?

Hello,

I have recently set up my 40 gal. FO tank and have some questions regarding the cycle process. On Thurs. of last week I added 40lbs of aragonite reef sand (dry), water and salt to the aquarium. I have no live rock yet and have decided to do a no-fish method of cycle using a raw shrimp. I added the shrimp last night. The water is operating at apprx. 75 deg, specific grav. 1.024 and filters running. (Aquaclear back filter and two powerhead filters. The water has not yet become clear. Is this normal? I thought it should only take a couple days....or maybe I am wishing and am to excited ! The water is not really terrible, just cloudy when the light is on. It will clear just be patient.

Anyways, sounds like the sand is still settling, be patient, it will clear up.

it took my tank 13 days for the sand to clear up. use some filter pads to help it clear it up faster.
