I'm using Seachem's reef salt. I make up saltwater several days in advance of any water changes, but was wondering how long you have stored saltwater? I store mine in a garbage can. I've noticed some cloudiness over time in the water.
Are you aerating it with a powerhead?
I've kept SW for up to a month but have kept it aerated and I've had to add top off DI water because of evaporation.
I aerated but had stopped temporarily. I've since added it to my tank even with the cloudiness. If it clears up I think that will prove the aeration theory. Thanks.
I don't think there are "shelf-life" of mixed seawater. However, I typically kept mixed seawater in garbage cans too. I also kept them circulated/aerated until use.
Mine usually do not get left in the garbage can over a week, though. I only mix enough for one WC per batch.
