hello i have just purchased a regal anglefish from a respectable lfs. I have tryed to feed it frozen brine, crisp flakes, krill and seaweed delight (green marine algae). I cannot get him to eat, i have noticed him picking at my rocks in the tank. He does look very healthy but i am afraid that if he does not start eating that i will lose him. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to feed him? will he be ok just eating off of the rocks?

Please help Thank you

He may in fact do very well eating the algae from the live rocks.

I would give live macro algae a try.

:welcome:

Regal angels are notoriously picky eaters, and some times they unfortunately do not ever eat anything you introduce to the tank. I would try live brine shrimp mixed with frozen food (e.g. Ocean Nutrition Angel formula, Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef, P.E. Mysis shrimp).

Regals aren't algae eaters in the wild as much as they are sponge eaters. Unfortunately, if it doesn't feed, it may starve; Live rock in closed systems will not provide regals enough food in the long run.

You should always ask you lfs to actually show you that they're eating before you buy it. It's an easy sale for the lfs if you just take their word for it. I was just at my lfs and there was a Regal Angel and I saw the guy working there feeding him. It was eating frozen mysis shrimp. You could always try that.

Try soaking whatever food you are trying in Garlic, many different brands
It is supposed to attract and stimulate fish to eat. It's sure worth a try!
