I was in the LFS today and saw one of the most striking fish I've ever seen. The LFS called it a "green sided jawfish." He explained that he'd done a detailed web search and found absolutely no literature on the fish - not even a scientific name. It was, in fact, a jaw fish - except it was like none I've ever seen. It had a bright orange/red head and a bright green body. Like I said, striking.

Naturally, I wanted to buy it right away. I held off for one reason: two months ago I put two pearly jawfish in my 46G bowfront and they were harrassed to death by my algae blenny. When the harassment first became apparent, I placed the blenny in my refugium for several extended stints...but each time he went back in the main tank, he chased the jawfish out of their holes. They died of stress.

Beyond the blenny problem, the tank is perfect for jawfish - with a deep sand bed, extensive rockwork, and a low fish load.

Is my only option getting rid of the beloved blenny? Does anyone have any suggestions? One thing I considered was putting in a couple of additional fish with the jawfish to distract the blenny (the tank can handle it).

Thanks!
Jason

Gonna have to show me a pic of this jaw fish for me to believe it LOL! ;)
It honestly sounds like your describing a goby. They have colorations that some what match that.
