Pods?

My tank is almost 2 year old. I have about 50 lbs. of live rock from different sources. With some of it I got a ton of small (many deformed) star fish. Could I also have gotten pods?

I was thinking of a scooter blenny.

Are pods that noticable that I would be seeing them?

I also saw something called "Ocean Pods" on line, a bottle live pods for $25. I have a AquaClear500 hanging on my tank as sort of a fuge with sand and macro algea, it just trickles into tank, would this work for pods?

you have pods. try checking your sand bed at night with a flash light. You should be able to see small little bugs jumping around. I've always been told these were pods.

you may have pods but not enough to sustain a scooter blenney or mandarin. The general rule of thumb is 75gal and 75lb of live rock aged for over a year. And in my opinion this is still pretty low, I would only go with those numbers if you have a big and decent fuge. These are great little creatures but they require a lot to survive.

You most definitly got some pods from your LR.

There's several brands/species of pods for sale, look around they'll pop up

BTW, yout HOT AC fug sounds fine for pod production.

The 'deformed small star fish' are probably Asterina stars, they reproduce by splitting. Here's a link to the hitchhiker frequently asked questions which has some great info and pics.

As far as 'pods go, I am wondering what else is in the tank besides rock . The other occupants in the tank might be why you aren't seeing many 'pods as they get eaten.
