I thought I posted, but it never showed up, so I hope this isn't a duplicate.

I have a new 125 gal tank w/a Oceanic 2 sump. I'm using it with fresh water, but I know you guys are much more familiar with sumps, so I hope you can give me some advice.

The tank is drilled and the water from the bulkheads goes into a bio-ball chamber. It sounds like a coffee percolator as the water comes down. I think part of the problem might be the sagging tubes. The picture should show you what I'm talking about.

So, here are my questions.
1) Could my long, sagging tubes be causing excess water noise?
2) If so, how can I shorten them? Can I buy custom sized tubes, or can I just cut them and shove one side into the other and then duct tape back together?

Thanks for your help.

Dan

I assume the left is the drain, and the right reture? Looks like a durso, but you need to zoom out a bit to make sure we see the top of the drain pipe...

Its an All glass mega flow.

The tubing shouldnt have a drop loop in it before it goes into the sump area. I would suspend it to prevent the loop. You want a direct drop into the sump.

Thank you Ben. I don't know why I didn't think of if, but I used zip ties to hold the tube up so there the water takes a level path from standpipe to sump; what a difference. Of course there is still the sound of water, but it's not the coffee percolator sound. What was happening is that the loops would cause the water to pool and then surge out. This was making the most annoying sounds. There was no need to shorten the tubes after all.

Best Regards,
Dan

If it were me I would just measure the distance and order smaller hoses online from pet-promenade on Ebay or another source.
Alot less hassel.
