i have a watchman goby and but to add a blenny, maybe a canary or midas. are gobies and blennies okay in the same tank or do they fight? oh, my tank is a 100g.
I have a blennie and he does have quite a bit of attitude. He killed a Turbo snail last week because it came too near his den. This week he has taken a dislike to my Conch's and will dart out at them and give a good solid bite. He is very friendly with my clown fish though and shares food willingly with him.
I read Blennies are one of the more intellegent fish around. Some research guy is teaching a blennie to read like they do with Apes! I'm gonna make mine a sign that says be nice to your tankmates
There is actually a guy teaching cuttle fish to read. He shows them a letter on a piece of cardboard and they will mimic the shape on their skin. It is really pretty cool. i can't remember where I saw it, but it was either a dvd or on the NG channel I think. Pretty cool though. It was a show about squid I believe. Anyway, good stuff.
As for the reading thing, I did some surfing and cant seem to find the page where I read that. It was something I came accross when I was looking up stuff after I bought the fish. It was to do with them recognising symbols and remembering them. Like a certain sysmbol that would tell the fish to go to a place in the tank and wait for a treat. I wish I could find it agian though.
But My blennie has never touched any of my soft corals or hemit crabs. He did get down with the Emerald crab a few times but it always seems to be about protecting his hole. Anything gets near it and he get upset
Wow! I had one of those for about a week. Then Mr. Powerhead ate him. He had a bottom set of fangs. He looked more like an eel than anything else. Everything in the tank stayed far away from him. I remember reading if he didn't get algae in his diet he wouldn't live long. I hate Mr. Powerhead. :x
I had one of those. It was quite aggressive. I was nipped by it more than once. It did not bother the the clownfish or the Banggae. Later I bought a canary blennie. Within a couple of days the bicolor stopped eating and the next morning it was gone, presumed dead. IMO the Canary blennie bit it probably on the mouth. I don't think I will ever have another Canary blennie. It too died within about a week. It appeared to have tail rot. Everything else is healthy.
